Acupuncture Is Medicine Acupuncture is powerful medicine which aids in strengthening the imune system, helps prevent disease, control pain, and increases energy. Acupuncture is a well developed system of whole health care based on natural energetic laws dating back four thousand years ago. Acupuncture is world wide today. - How does Acupuncture work?
There are gates or points in the body, grouped along certain lines of energy flow called meridians. Each point provides a specific function in the body in regulating the flow of vital energy. The Acupuncturist opens or closes these points, and energy flow is strengthened or sedated, to achieve balanced functioning. Western medicines can suppress or stimulate electrical impulses within the body but they cannot regulate it in the way Acupuncture can. How Does An Acupuncturist Treat? Acupuncture is performed using a very fine sterilized, disposable needle. They are gently placed at specific points on the body, usually around the wrists, hands, and ankles. They may not be felt at all, or may be felt as a mild sensation followed by tingling, numbness, or warmth. Acupoints are often stimulated using a specific frequency of electricity called "microcurrent." Most people are surprised at the depth of relaxation, and the sense of intensity of energy, followed by a sense of well being that occurs from the balance of energy. Often relief of symptoms is felt immediately , although relief may occur in the following days or weeks, depending on the severity of symptoms. Several treatments are usually necessary, although they may be 2 to 3 times per week at first, then becoming more infrequent.
